Dr Poonam Malik FRSE gives a response to the Post-Covid-19 Futures Commission’s report presenting recommended actions to support Scotland as it emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic from the perspective of the business sector.
The report is the culmination of 18 months of activity exploring four key themes: how to build national resilience; what makes good public debate and participation; the use of data, evidence and science in understanding and responding to Covid-19; and how inclusive public service was witnessed throughout the pandemic.
Biography
Dr Poonam Malik FRSE is an entrepreneurial academic business strategy leader and an investor in Innovation. Poonam has extensive experience of working in research, innovation, enterprise, governance, health and business sectors globally. A GlobalScot, a Climate Champion for Scottish Enterprise Board and Skills Development Scotland Board Member – Dr Malik has held leadership roles across public, private, higher education and social enterprise sectors. She has recently been appointed as Head of Investments at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
Poonam brings expertise in Life Sciences, Biotech, Health digital & Medical Technology businesses. Poonam is passionate about Diversity, Equality, Inclusive values & climate change. She is a Syndicate Investor with Investing Women Angels and Board-level Advisor, Chair & Consultant for Technology Startups. Poonam has held Academic positions at the Universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Cumbria/Lancaster and in India. She is an elected Fellow with the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE) and Royal Society of Biology (FRSB). Poonam holds an MBAin ‘Strategy and Leadership’ from University of Edinburgh Business School, a PhD in Biomedical Sciences/Virology from University of Glasgow, UK, a Masters (MSc) degree in Biotechnology & a Bachelors (BSc) in Chemistry & Zoology from India.
